Overlay Widgets: Basics

This guide explains the design options that work the same way on (almost) every widget in the Overlay Designer, and describes the basic widgets themselves (Text, Media, Website, Color area). Menu: Overlay → Designer (Beta) → Add widget → Basics.

FAQ

Why isn't my website showing up? The URL must start with http:// or https:// and must not contain a username/password. Also check whether the target page allows being embedded in a frame (iframe) at all.

What's the difference between "Text" and "Text with templates"? "Text" shows a fixed line that only an automation swaps out. "Text with templates" works with several prepared presets including entry/exit effects.

Do the design options apply the same way to every widget? For most, yes. Some newer widgets (the "Live" variants) have their own, more extensive design system, see the respective widget guide.
