Giveaways
Giveaways let you run a draw in chat that your viewers enter with a chat command, and then draw a winner automatically or with a button click. Menu: Community → Giveaways.
What the page is for
You turn the giveaway on, viewers enter with a chat command, and you then draw a winner. Entry can be free or cost channel points, and you can give subscribers a higher chance of winning.
Page layout
Draw
This section only appears while the giveaway is active. It shows the most recently drawn winner (or the message "No winner drawn yet") and two buttons:
- Draw Winner Now!: immediately draws a winner from the current list of participants.
- Clear List: deletes all participants and the last drawn winner, after a confirmation prompt.
Giveaway Settings
| Field | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Giveaway Active | Turns entry via chat command on or off | Off |
| Enable Sub Luck | Subscribers get a higher chance of winning | Off |
| Entry Keyword | The chat command viewers use to enter | !giveaway |
| Sub Luck Multiplier | Only visible when Sub Luck is enabled. Multiplies the winning chance of subscribers, e.g. 2 = double the chance | 2 (value between 2 and 10) |
All settings save automatically as soon as you leave the field or flip the toggle. A warning appears under the Entry Keyword if the same command is already used for another feature on your channel.
Entry Cost
| Field | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Free Giveaway (No Cost) | Active: entry is free. Inactive: viewers must pay points for tickets | Active (free) |
| Ticket Price (Points) | Only visible when not free. Cost per ticket/entry | at least 1 |
| Max Tickets Per Viewer | Only visible when not free. The maximum number of tickets a viewer can buy | 1 (at least 1) |
Bot Responses
Here you set the texts the bot replies with in chat. The question mark icon at the top of the section opens an overview of the available placeholders.
| Field | When it is used |
|---|---|
| Successfully Entered (Tickets Bought) | After a viewer successfully enters (buys tickets) |
| Max Tickets Reached (Or Already Entered) | When the viewer has already reached the maximum number of tickets |
| Not Enough Points | Only visible when the giveaway is not free. When the viewer doesn't have enough points for the desired tickets |
| Winner Drawn | Posted in chat when you draw a winner |
Placeholders
| Placeholder | Meaning |
|---|---|
{user} |
Viewer name (including @), e.g. @MaxMustermann |
{cost} |
The total cost of the purchased tickets in points |
{amount} |
The number of tickets the viewer purchased |
{currency} |
The name of your channel currency (e.g. Coins, Points) |
Current Participants
A table of all currently entered participants:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Username | Twitch name of the participant |
| Subscriber | Shows with an icon whether the participant was a subscriber at the time of entry |
| Joined At | Date and time of entry |
The Show Subscribers Only filter hides non-subscribers. The Remove action on each row lets you take a single participant out of the list (with confirmation).
What viewers type in chat
While the giveaway is active, a viewer enters with your entry keyword, for example:
!giveaway
If the giveaway is not free, the viewer can add a number to buy more than one ticket at once (up to the allowed maximum), for example:
!giveaway 5
buys 5 tickets at once, as long as there are enough points and the ticket maximum isn't exceeded.
Any viewer can enter, there is no restriction to subscribers, VIPs, or moderators.
How the draw works
Each participant has as many "entries" in the drawing pool as they have tickets. If Sub Luck is enabled, subscribers' entries are multiplied by the configured multiplier before the winner is drawn at random. More tickets or an active Sub Luck bonus increase the chance of winning, but do not guarantee it.
Typical workflow
- You set the keyword, cost, and bot texts as you like.
- You turn on Giveaway Active.
- Viewers type the keyword in chat, optionally with a number of tickets.
- You end the entry phase by turning Giveaway Active off again (optional, the draw also works while the giveaway is still active).
- You click Draw Winner Now!. The winner's name appears on the page, as an animation on the dashboard, and as a chat message (if a text is set for "Winner Drawn").
- Clear List resets everything to zero for the next round.
Limits and edge cases
- A viewer without a valid Twitch user ID cannot enter (in practice this only affects edge cases, not normal viewers).
- Without participants, Draw Winner Now! shows an error message ("There are no participants").
- Points spent on purchased tickets are deducted immediately and are not automatically refunded if the viewer doesn't win. That is intentional for a giveaway.
TikTok: planned and in progress.
FAQ
Can I run a second giveaway at the same time? No, there is only one giveaway configuration per channel at a time.
What happens to participants after the draw? They stay in the list until you click Clear List. So you can draw multiple times in a row from the same participant list.
Can a viewer check their own ticket count in chat? That's possible with an additional, freely configurable automation, see the Automations guide.
Why don't I see the entry cost settings? The Ticket Price and Max Tickets fields are only shown while Free Giveaway is turned off.
