Timer Commands

Timer Commands
Timer commands are messages the bot posts to chat on its own at regular intervals, for example reminders about social media links, rules or sponsors. Menu: Bot → Timer Commands.
Timer commands need a bot linked to your channel. If no bot is connected, the page only shows the hint "No bot configured" with links to settings or the bot account.
When a timer fires
A timer only fires when both conditions are met at the same time:
- The configured interval has elapsed since the last send.
- At least as many chat messages as the configured minimum have been posted since the last send.
So if chat is very quiet, the timer waits even after the interval has elapsed, until enough has been written again. This stops the same timer text from repeatedly appearing in an empty chat.
List layout
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Message | The text that gets sent |
| Interval | Minutes between two sends |
| Min. Messages | Minimum number of chat messages since the last send |
| Status | Active / Inactive |
| Last Triggered | When the timer last fired |
Above the status column there is a filter for Active/Inactive/All.
Creating a timer
Create New Timer opens a form:
| Field | What it does | Default | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Message | The text that appears in chat. An emote picker button in the field lets you insert emotes. | - | - |
| Interval (min) | Minutes between two sends | 10 | 1 to 1440 |
| Min. Messages | Minimum chat activity since the last send | 5 | 0 to 999 |
A new timer is created active immediately.
Editing, (de)activating, deleting a timer
The action menu of a timer offers:
- Activate / Deactivate: toggles the timer without deleting it.
- Edit: opens the same form as when creating (message, interval, min. messages).
- Delete: removes the timer permanently (with a confirmation prompt).
Data Management
The Data Management button offers three actions:
StreamElements Import
Imports existing timers from a StreamElements account.
- Enter your StreamElements channel name and a JWT token (found at streamelements.com under My Account → Channels → API Tokens).
- Click Load Timers. If the channel is not found or the request fails, an appropriate error message appears.
- From the list of found timers, select the ones to keep and click Import.
The message text, interval (converted to minutes) and minimum message count are carried over; active/inactive is taken from StreamElements.
Import (JSON backup)
Uploads a previously exported backup file (.json), shows the timers it contains for selection, and creates the selected ones. A file in the wrong format is rejected with "Invalid file format. Please upload JSON or StreamElements CSV."
Export
Downloads all current timers of this channel as a JSON file (message, interval, min. messages, status). Useful as a backup or to transfer timers to another channel.

FAQ
My timer isn't firing even though the interval has long passed. Why? Chat probably hasn't had enough messages since the last send yet. Lower the "Min. Messages" value or wait until more messages have been posted.
Can I use placeholders like the viewer's name in a timer message? No, a timer's message is sent exactly as written. For text with placeholders like {user}, use an automation instead (see the Automations guide).
What happens to the "Last Triggered" time if I deactivate a timer? It stays as is. When reactivated, the interval counts again from the last saved time.
I imported StreamElements timers, but some texts don't look the same as before. Multi-line StreamElements timers are joined into a single line with " | ", since timer messages here only have one line.
