Viewer Queue
The viewer queue ("Join Queue") lets viewers sign up in order via a chat command, for example to take turns playing with you. Menu: Community → Join Queue.
What the page is for
You open the queue, viewers sign up with a chat command, and you call up the next viewer one by one. This works well for "play with viewers" formats where only one person is up at a time.
Page layout
Queue Control
| Field | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Open queue | When enabled, viewers can join via command | Closed |
| Join Command | The chat command viewers use to sign up | !play |
| Next Player Command (Mod) | The chat command you or your moderators use to call up the next viewer. Mods can use this command in chat | !next |
| Maximum Slots | How many viewers can be in the queue at the same time | 20 |
A warning appears next to the Join Command and Next Player Command if the same command is already used for another feature on your channel. Changes save as soon as you leave the field.
Bot Texts
This section is collapsed by default. Here you set what the bot replies with in chat for each situation. Use {user} for the username and {position} for the position in the queue.
| Field | When it is used | Default text |
|---|---|---|
| Successfully joined | When a viewer signs up | @{user} Du bist nun auf Platz #{position} in der Warteschlange! |
| Already in the list | When a viewer who is already waiting types the join command again | @{user} Du bist bereits in der Warteschlange auf Platz #{position}! |
| Next player (chat announcement) | Announced in chat when you call up the next player. {user} is the Twitch name of the next player |
@{user} Du bist jetzt dran! Mach dich bereit! |
| Queue full | When the queue has reached the maximum number of slots | @{user} Die Warteschlange ist leider voll! |
| Queue closed | When someone tries to join while the queue is closed | @{user} Die Warteschlange ist derzeit geschlossen. |
If you leave a text field empty, the bot sends no chat message for that situation.
Waiting viewers
A table of all currently waiting viewers, in the order they joined:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Username | Twitch name of the waiting viewer |
| Joined At | Date and time they joined |
The table refreshes automatically every few seconds. The actions on each row let you mark a viewer as Done manually, or remove them completely from the list with Remove.
There are also two buttons at the top of the page:
- Next Player: calls up the viewer who has been waiting the longest, marks them "done", and posts the chat announcement (if a text is set for it).
- Clear List: removes all waiting viewers, after a confirmation prompt.
What viewers type in chat
While the queue is open, a viewer signs up with the join command, for example:
!play
The bot replies with the viewer's current position in the queue. If someone tries to sign up a second time, the bot instead reports the position they already have. If the queue is closed or full, the viewer gets the corresponding message.
Any viewer can join, there is no restriction to subscribers, VIPs, or moderators.
Calling up the next player (moderators only)
Only you as the streamer or your moderators can call up the next player via chat command:
!next
This does the same thing as the Next Player button on the page. Regular viewers cannot use this command.
Typical workflow
- You set the join command, next player command, maximum slots, and bot texts as you like.
- You turn on Open queue.
- Viewers type the join command in chat and get their position announced.
- You call up the next viewer using the Next Player button (or you or your mods use
!nextin chat). - After the stream, you click Clear List so the queue starts empty again next time.
Limits and edge cases
- A viewer without a valid Twitch user ID cannot join (in practice this only affects edge cases).
- The order is strictly based on when someone joined. There is no way to move someone up or down in the list, other than removing them with Remove and having them sign up again.
- A viewer who was marked done or removed can sign up again and gets a new, current position.
TikTok: planned and in progress.
FAQ
What's the difference between "Done" and "Remove"? Both take the viewer out of the list of waiting players. "Done" is meant for the normal case where the viewer had their turn. "Remove" is useful for taking someone out of the list without them having had a turn.
Can I run several queues at the same time? No, there is only one queue per channel.
What happens if I close the queue while viewers are still waiting? Viewers who already joined stay in the list. Only new join attempts are rejected while the queue is closed.
Does joining the queue cost points? No, joining the queue is always free.
