Bot reacts when addressed by name in the stream

Once Bot listens to the stream is turned on, you can additionally let the bot answer in chat when you address it by name out loud in the stream, the same way it already reacts to its chat trigger word. Menu: Settings and Stream Transcript. Twitch only.

Requirement

This switch only appears once Bot listens to the stream is turned on. Turning the listening switch off also disables this.

Setting up alternate names

Speech recognition does not always understand a name the way it is written. Under Alternate names you can add additional spellings of how your bot name could be understood, one per line or separated by commas. For example, if your bot is called "Streambot", you could add alternate spellings such as "Stream Bot" or "Shtriembot" so the recognizer catches more variations.

How it works

  • You need to actually say something to the bot, not just its name on its own. Saying only the name without a question or request afterward does not trigger a reply.
  • After the name is recognized, the bot waits a short delay (by default 12 seconds) before reacting, so the full sentence is captured even if speech recognition splits it across two chunks.
  • After a reply, the channel has a short cooldown (by default 30 seconds) before the next spoken name counts again, so the same sentence or overlapping audio segments cannot trigger it twice.
  • Altogether, expect the bot's reply in chat roughly 20 to 35 seconds after you finish the sentence.
  • All of the bot's normal rules still apply afterward, such as its own reply cooldown and its usual way of answering.

FAQ

Why does nothing happen when I just say the bot's name? The name alone does not trigger anything. You need to actually ask it something or say a full sentence addressed to it.

Why does the reply take so long? There is a short delay built in so the full sentence is captured, plus the normal time the bot needs to generate a reply. Expect roughly 20 to 35 seconds in total.

Can I change the cooldown or delay myself? No, those are fixed values (30 seconds cooldown, 12 seconds delay) set by an admin. You can only turn the feature on or off and edit your alternate names.

Does this work for TikTok too? No, this feature is Twitch only.
