Live Control Room

The Live Control Room brings together everything you want quick access to during a live stream: following chat, a video preview, starting polls, running team games, spinning the lucky wheel, running a support round or the subathon timer, and voice control. Menu: Navigation → Live Control Room.

Chat and video

The page shows you the most recent chat messages from your channel (if several platforms are connected, from all of them at once, each with a small platform badge). The list refreshes automatically every few seconds, you do not need to reload the page.

On Twitch you can additionally show or hide a small video preview of your own stream (buttons "Show video" / "Hide video").

Polls

Polls let your viewers vote live on a question. The question and result appear in your overlay (you need a matching poll widget in the Overlay Designer for that).

Creating polls

The "Polls" table lets you create prepared polls you can start at any time.

Field What it does Default
Number Unique number you can also reference with the chat command -
Question The displayed question -
Options 2 to 10 answer choices 2 options
Default duration (seconds) How long the vote runs if the chat command does not specify a time 60
Result display duration (seconds) How long the final result stays visible in the overlay afterward 15

Buttons in the table: "Start now" (with an optional different duration), "Edit", "Delete".

Starting a poll

You can start a poll two ways:

  • Using the "Start poll" button at the top of the page: choose one of your created polls and optionally give a different duration.
  • Using the chat command !umfrage <number> [an <seconds>], for example !umfrage 1 or !umfrage 1 an 60. This command can only be used by you or your moderators. If the number is missing or invalid, the bot replies with the correct usage.

Only one poll can run at a time. If you try to start a second one while one is already running, you get the message "A poll is already running."

Voting

While a poll is running, viewers vote by simply typing the number of the option they want in chat, for example 2 for the second answer, with no "!" in front. Only the first vote per viewer counts, a later message does not change the vote.

On this page you see the most recently started (or currently running) poll together with the live tally, without needing to keep your own overlay in view.

Team games

Team games split your chat into two teams competing against each other. Four game types are available: tug of war, race, quiz duel and tic tac toe. The game itself plays out through a matching widget in your overlay.

Starting registration

The "Start registration" button opens a new round:

Field What it does Default
Game type Tug of war, race, quiz duel or tic tac toe Tug of war
Team assignment "Open" (viewers choose with !team1/!team2) or "Name list" (only listed viewers) Open
Team 1 / Team 2 usernames Name list mode only: one username per line or comma separated -
Round duration (seconds) How long a round lasts before it is resolved automatically (does not apply to quiz duel) 10
Target Race only: the score a team needs to reach to win 100
Step per round Race only: how much the score increases per round won 10
Target score Quiz duel only: the score a team needs to reach to win 3
Questions Quiz duel only: at least one question with 2 to 4 answer options, one marked correct 1 question

Only one team game can run at a time ("A team game is already running").

Joining

In open mode, viewers join a team by typing !team1 or !team2 in chat. In name list mode, a listed viewer is automatically assigned to their pre-set team as soon as they type !team1 or !team2 in chat; viewers not on the list cannot join.

Starting the game

Once enough viewers have joined, click "Start game" to begin the actual round.

How the game types work

  • Tug of war: Each round, whichever team got more votes (chat command !pull, with nothing else) wins the round. The rope moves toward that team's side. A team wins once the rope has moved far enough to its side.
  • Race: Also decided by !pull each round. The team with more votes gains the configured score increase for that round. The team that reaches the target first wins.
  • Quiz duel: Viewers answer with a bare letter A, B, C or D (no "!"), matching the answer option. Only the first answer per viewer and question counts. There is no automatic timer here: you resolve each question yourself with the "Resolve question" button whenever you want. The point goes to the team of the viewer who answered correctly first, not to the majority. The game ends once a team reaches the target score or the questions run out; a tied score at the end ends the game in a draw.
  • Tic tac toe: Only the team whose turn it is may vote, with a bare number 1 to 9 (like a numeric keypad) for the field they want. If the majority votes for a free field, it gets marked with that team's symbol. If nobody votes, the turn is forfeited and the other team goes next. Three in a row wins; if the board fills up with no winner, the game ends in a draw.

Cancelling a game

The "Cancel" button (with a confirmation prompt) lets you end a running registration or game at any time.

Lucky wheel, support round and subathon timer

These three actions only appear once you have already placed the matching widget (lucky wheel, support round, or subathon timer) in your Overlay Designer.

  • Spin the wheel: Triggers a spin of the selected lucky wheel widget and shows you the result right away.
  • Start support round: Starts (or restarts) the selected support round for a set number of minutes (1 to 240, default 10).
  • Subathon timer: Choose one of your subathon timers and an action: Start/resume, Pause, Add or subtract time (a negative number of minutes subtracts), or Reset to starting time. The time currently remaining is shown right when you pick the timer.

Voice control

Voice control lets you use spoken words as a trigger for an existing automation, for example to trigger an overlay action with a shout while playing.

How it works: speech recognition runs directly in your own browser on this page, nothing is installed on your computer. Only when a matching trigger word is recognized does a message get sent to the server. For this to work, this page has to stay open as long as you want voice control active.

Steps:

  1. First create at least one automation with the "Voice command" trigger (see the Automations guide). You set the trigger word there.
  2. Open the Live Control Room and click "Start microphone". Your browser will ask for permission to use the microphone.
  3. The page shows you the status: "Off", "Listening" or "No microphone access" (if permission was denied, grant it in your browser and start again).
  4. Recognized words appear in a list on this page for your own reference. This list is not stored anywhere.
  5. If a recognized word matches one of your trigger words, the matching automation runs.

Speech recognition does not work in every browser. Use Chrome or Edge, where it works without any extra installation.

If you have not created an automation with the "Voice command" trigger yet, the page shows a link to create one directly with that trigger.

FAQ

Why doesn't !umfrage react in chat? The command only works for you and your moderators. Also check that the number you used actually exists.

I typed !team1 but nothing happened. Either no registration is currently open, or the game is running in name list mode and your username is not on the list.

Why doesn't my second answer count in the quiz duel? Only the first answer per viewer and question is counted, so nobody can just try every letter.

Voice control shows "No microphone access". Grant your browser microphone permission for this page and start the microphone again.

Can I run several polls or team games at the same time? No, only one poll and one team game can be active per channel at a time.

The actions for lucky wheel, support round or subathon timer are missing on my page. These actions only appear once you have placed the matching widget at least once in your Overlay Designer.
