Chat Log
The chat log shows all messages written in your Twitch chat in a searchable list. Menu: Community → Chat Log.
What the page is for
Every message from your chat gets stored. On this page you can look back at who wrote what, for example to clear up an incident, find a quote, or simply read what happened in chat during the last stream.
Page layout
The page shows a table of stored messages, newest first by default (hint at the top of the page: "Newest first").
Columns
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Time | Date and time the message was written (format day.month.year hour:minute:second) |
| User | The chatter's display name. The color matches the user's Twitch chat color, if they have one |
| Message | The text of the message (long messages are shown truncated) |
| Type | Only visible on larger screens. Shows whether it was a regular chat message, an action (/me message), or a whisper |
Search and filters
- The search field lets you search by username or message text.
- Today filter: shows only today's messages.
- Bots Only filter: shows only messages from accounts whose Twitch login contains "bot" or "helfer".
- The table can be sorted by time and shows 25, 50, or 100 rows per page.
What gets stored
Every message in your main chat (the channel the chat bot watches) is stored. Messages from other channels you only "watch" are not shown in your own chat log.
Typical use
- You open the page after the stream.
- You search for a username or a keyword from a message in the search field.
- Optionally you narrow it down to the current day with the Today filter.
Limits
- If your Twitch channel is not yet registered in the system, the page shows a notice to contact the administrator instead.
- No message history is shown from before recording started for your channel.
TikTok: planned and in progress.
FAQ
Why is a message I saw during the stream missing? It may have come from a different channel you only watch, not your own chat, or recording may have been briefly interrupted at that time.
Can I delete or export messages? No, the chat log is a read-only view for looking things up.
Why doesn't a username have a color? Not every viewer has set a custom chat color in Twitch. Without one, the name is shown in the default color.
