OBS Control
Menu: Channel → OBS Control
This page connects your local OBS to eranio.de. Once the connection is set up, you can control OBS from within your overlay. With the "OBS Control" widget in the Overlay Designer, you can then switch scenes, show/hide sources, or trigger hotkeys without touching OBS.
Connection to OBS
To control OBS remotely, you need the WebSocket server in OBS. It is a feature that allows programs (like eranio.de) to connect to OBS and control it.
Enable WebSocket Server in OBS
- Open OBS
- Go to "Tools" → "WebSocket Server Settings"
- Check the "Enable Server" checkbox
- Set a secure password (do not leave blank)
- Note down the details (Host and Port, usually
127.0.0.1and4455)
Enter Connection Details
| Field | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Host | The address where OBS is reachable. Usually 127.0.0.1, which is your own PC. Only change this if OBS runs on a different device on the same network. |
127.0.0.1 |
| Port | The port of the WebSocket server. Copy from OBS. | 4455 |
| WebSocket password | The password from OBS. Stored encrypted with us. | (no default) |
After entering the details, click "Save" to secure the connection.
Turning on OBS Control in the Overlay
Saving the connection details here is just the first step. OBS control only becomes active when you add a special widget:
- Open your Overlay Designer (the overlay you already have loaded in OBS)
- Add a new "OBS Control" widget
- In the widget's properties section, use multi-select to choose:
- Switch scene: The action is allowed to switch scenes
- Show/hide source: The action is allowed to make sources visible/invisible
- Trigger hotkey: The action is allowed to call hotkeys
- Save the overlay
This gives you full control over what can be controlled from the overlay. You can have multiple OBS Control widgets with different settings.
Important: You do not need a second Browser Source in OBS. The widget runs inside the same overlay with your other widgets.
FAQ
Is my OBS password stored visibly? No. The password is stored encrypted with us. No one but you can see it.
What is the difference between "Host" and "Port"?
The host is the address (e.g. 127.0.0.1 or an IP address), the port is a number that points to a specific service. Usually OBS is reachable at 127.0.0.1:4455.
Does OBS need to be running for the connection to work? Yes. OBS and the WebSocket Server must be active for commands to go through.
Can I control OBS from anywhere?
Normally only from your own PC (127.0.0.1). If you have OBS on another device on the same network (e.g. on another PC), you can enter its IP address instead of 127.0.0.1.
What if the connection does not work? Check these points:
- Is the WebSocket Server enabled in OBS?
- Does the password match?
- Is OBS reachable at the address you entered?
- If OBS runs on another device, is the IP address correct?
Can the connection work over the internet? eranio.de currently only supports local connections (same network). An encrypted remote connection over the internet is not possible.
Are OBS commands recorded or logged? No. Commands are sent directly to your local OBS. eranio.de does not store which scenes were switched or hotkeys were triggered.
