Server Configuration

The Hytale server configuration, the whitelist and the game's permission groups, straight from the browser. The page has two tabs: General and Permissions.

Action Permission
View the page hytale-admin.serverconfig-read
Change anything hytale-admin.serverconfig-manage

The plugin reads all values straight from the server's files through Pelican's file interface and writes changes back there: config.json (server configuration), whitelist.json and permissions.json. Each area names the file it comes from.

Important: Most configuration changes only take effect after a server restart.

General tab

Configuration

The overview shows server name, MOTD, whether a password is set, max players, max view radius and the other values from config.json.

Edit Config opens a dialog with these fields:

Field Limits
Server Name up to 100 characters
MOTD welcome text
Server Password hidden, can be revealed, empty means no password
Max Players 1 to 100
Max View Radius 1 to 32 chunks
Result Message
Success "Server config updated successfully"
Error "Failed to update server config"

Skip Mod Validation For Version

Hytale checks at startup whether mods fit the server version. The switch sets SkipModValidationForVersion in config.json:

State Value in config.json Effect
Enabled revision of the running server The check is skipped for exactly this revision
Disabled empty Normal check

The Java mod keeps the value on the current revision at every start. Single mods can be patched on the Mods page instead.

Whitelist

All whitelisted players with their avatar.

Action What happens
Add Player Asks for the player name (required) and UUID (optional, leave it empty if unknown). Message ":player added to whitelist", otherwise "Failed to add to whitelist".
Remove Removes a player after a confirmation. Message ":player removed from whitelist", otherwise "Failed to remove from whitelist".

Permissions tab

Groups

All permission groups from permissions.json with their permissions as badges.

Action What happens
Create Group Asks for the group name (up to 50 characters) and the permissions, one per line (e.g. chat.send).
Delete Removes a group after a confirmation. The OP group cannot be deleted.

User Group Assignments

Every player with groups, with the name (resolved from known players and the whitelist) and the groups. Grant OP adds the player to the OP group, Revoke OP removes them.

The Permissions section has a detailed guide to permissions.

Troubleshooting

"Failed to update server config"

  • The file is locked by the server process, stop the server and try again
  • config.json contains invalid JSON
  • Pelican's file interface cannot write, check file permissions

Whitelist changes have no effect

  • Some changes need a server restart
  • whitelist.json must be readable and writable
